Only the PS5DualSense controller you really want leaked

The PS5's dual-sense controller doesn't look like it will age well. No, I don't mean the placement of the buttons, but the too-white design. Like a pair of bright white sneakers (or tennis shoes), this controller is likely to wear out as early as Christmas 2020.

That's why I'm excited about the possibility of an all-black PS5 controller, and evidence of its existence has leaked. The image showing this controller was posted by the Twitter account @welltest789 and originated from a submission to the FCC in April of this year.

The only question, however, is why this colorway is only seen in this FCC filing. VGC, the company that released the image, has unfortunately responded that the black controller shown in the FCC image is for a development kit and is likely to have a different color scheme than the regular retail product.

Another reason to believe that this controller is not intended for consumers can be seen in the buttons. Where there should be a square, triangle, circle, or X (which Sony calls a "cross") logo, there is none. This may be because none of the buttons are labeled." "Share" and "Options" are likewise missing, but VGC's guess that this is a prototype sounds pretty accurate.

This is the second leak indicating that the PS5 controller is all black, the first image featuring a white face button.

Nevertheless, we would love to see Sony start selling an all-black controller as soon as possible. We also know that a color variant model of the PS5 DualSense controller is inevitable.

Sony currently offers dozens of PS4 controller color options, ranging from a translucent light blue crystal color to an electric purple design, and since the PS5 launches in a few weeks on November 12, what accessories will be available for the PS5 will not have to wait that long.
