AMD Big Navi has finally been unveiled, essentially a trio of powerful graphics cards designed to combat Nvidia's top-of-the-line GPUs.

The Radeon RX 6000 series of graphics cards includes the powerful Radeon RX 6900 XT designed to compete with the GeForce RTX 3090, the Radeon RX 6800 XT to compete with the GeForce RTX 3080, and the GeForce RTX RX 6800, which appears to be positioned above the 3070 but is not as powerful.

The Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon 6800 will be released on November 18, right after the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, which also use the same RDNA 2 architecture.

However, with the Radeon RX 6900 XT coming out on December 8, a graphics card that could beat the RTX 3900 and undercut it in price, the Radeon RX 6900 XT may be worth picking up a chestnut in the fire. Depending on the components, it is definitely a graphics card worth considering.

The Radeon RX 6900 XT is the pinnacle of the new Radeon GPUs, and at $999, the RX 6900 XT is definitely a graphics card for high-end enthusiast gamers, even though it delivers 4K gaming performance comparable to the $1,499 RTX 3090. graphics card, it is arguably a very good value.

At $649, the Radeon RX 6800 XT promises performance comparable to the GeForce RTX 3080, but only about $50 less. This is a pretty attractive price, but it remains to be seen how well the AMD card can compete with the 4K gaming-centric RTX 3080, especially when it comes to ray tracing.

Next is the Radeon RX 6800, which at $579 offers performance that beats the $999 GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. However, the same goes for the $499 RTX 3070, which makes the Radeon graphics card seem a bit out of place.

All three cards are still quite affordable for the performance they are supposed to offer. And these could be a thorn in Nvidia's side.

From the above specs, it is clear that all three Big Navi graphics cards are powerful pixel-pushing graphics cards.

The Radeon RX 6900 XT is touted as a graphics card that will chew up 4K-resolution games with all settings maxed out; in AMD's own benchmarks, the RX 6900 XT hit 150 frames per second on Doom Eternal and was able to keep up with the GeForce RTX 3090, lagging behind. However, in Battlefield V, Forza Horizon 4, and Gears 5, the RX 6900 XT comes out on top, delivering higher frame rates overall.

It is worth keeping in mind that the RTX 3090 is a GPU designed for professional use or very high-end 8K gaming. That said, the RX 6900 XT is very impressive for a card that costs about $500 less, but definitely to make a fair comparison, we need to see how well it performs at 8K resolutions.

The Radeon RX 6800 XT is another 4K gaming GPU that can deliver 4K gaming at frame rates in excess of 60 frames per second, with AMD going toe-to-toe with the RTX 3080, sometimes losing to it, and sometimes even beating Nvidia's high-end graphics cards, sometimes trailing the RTX 3080 and sometimes trailing Nvidia's high-end graphics cards. This is rather compelling considering that the Radeon RX 6800 XT costs $50 less than the RTX 3080 and is currently very difficult to purchase due to lack of inventory.

For 1440p resolution games, the Radeon RX 6800 XT is equal to or better than the RTX 3080. This is worth keeping in mind if you are using a high refresh rate 1440p display.

What was not shown was the ray tracing performance of the RX 6800 XT and other RX 6000 series graphics cards; Nvidia's RTX GPUs have dedicated hardware for ray tracing, so they may have an advantage here, but we will have to wait and see. We will have to wait and see more about that.

As for the Radeon RX 6800, it is a powered-down version of the RX 6800 XT, also a 4K gaming graphics card; AMD did not compare it to the RTX 3080, but to the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, the former flagship of the RTX 2000 series. Comparisons were made; the Radeon card was able to deliver 4K gaming at 60fps, seemingly beating the RTX 2080 Ti across the board. [However, the GeForce RTX 3070 beats the RTX 2080 Ti and is cheaper than the RX 6800 at $499. We are curious to see how the two rate against each other. We wouldn't be surprised if RTX 3070 prevails here, but we could be proven wrong.

All three cards have access to AMD's "Rage Mode" one-click overclocking, which can boost GPU performance very easily. In addition, the new Radeon cards can achieve even higher performance thanks to "Smart Access Memory," which allows the Ryzen CPU full access to GPU memory.

AMD Big Navi promised powerful graphics cards, but instead offered three graphics cards: the Radeon RX 6900 XT and RX 6800 XT, which look to be very impressive graphics cards. They appear to be able to match or beat Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3000 series graphics cards and even undercut them in terms of price.

This should worry Nvidia and may lead them to come up with more aggressive pricing for their graphics cards or release boosted versions. That said, it is hard to say where the Radeon RX 6800 will stand, as it appears to be beaten out by the XT variant and more expensive than the GeForce RTX 3070.

But overall, these new Radeon cards are yet another addition to the GPUs that Nvidia has to make 4K gaming at 60+ frames per second a reality for all PC gamers. And this is a very good thing, as more competition, especially in the graphics card arena, should lead to innovation and more exciting gaming hardware.
