Forget Iphone12 — iPhone13 is getting this big upgrade

The iPhone 13 could offer users more internal storage than ever before, with a large 1TB capacity.

We suspect this is the case based on a recent tweet from leaker Jon Prosser. We don't know exactly what his post means, but the basic message is very clear.

Currently, the maximum storage capacity available on an iPhone is 512GB, which will be available when the iPhone 12 Pro and eventually the iPhone 12 Pro Max launch. This is already well more than most of its rivals, which tend to be capped at 256GB.

But more than Samsung's Galaxy Note 20 or OnePlus 8T is not necessarily enough. Apple makes a big deal about the iPhone's camera and video capabilities, two of the most storage-consuming features of any phone. If you are also an avid app user or mobile gamer, it would be all too easy to fill up your phone, especially when many users tend to keep it for two to three years.

Another option is to increase storage by default: invest in iCloud or other cloud storage, but that comes with a subscription fee for a meaningful amount and does not guarantee immediate offline access to certain files. There is also Samsung's approach of providing space for microSD card expansion if users want to use a microSD card, but Apple has never been a company keen on users messing with the iPhone's hardware.

With the iPhone 12 lineup now fully revealed, even if the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro Mini don't appear until November, we can look forward to the iPhone 13 next year, which is expected to be Apple's first 1TB device. Other rumors we are hearing suggest that the iPhone 13 could be a portless device with a significantly better camera than the iPhone 12 and a 120Hz refresh rate display, which many of its rivals currently use.
