The launch of the Xbox Series X is an exciting time for many, but don't let that stop you from telling users who are reporting problems with the disc tray of their newly purchased consoles.

Specifically, online reports from some Xbox X early adopters say that after loading a disc into the tray, the console began making strange clicking and whirring noises. In some cases, the disc tray would not accept discs at all, which is obviously a major problem for users who purchased the Xbox Series X for a console with a disc tray.

Some players have stated that reorienting their Xbox Series X systems, placing them in portrait or landscape orientation, has solved or completely eliminated the disc tray problem. Some players also report hearing loud noises coming from the Xbox Series X during game installation, but they do not seem to be as bad as the noises coming from the disk drive or during game installation.

Several users have posted similar complaints, videos, and audio on social media and Reddit, but there does not seem to be a theme or commonality among those experiencing the problem. Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a fix at this time. If you are experiencing problems, your best bet seems to be to contact Xbox support at this time.

At the time of this writing, Microsoft has not acknowledged any disk drive issues or hard drive noise, but there is a list of known issues that can be checked.
