Walmart PS5 Update:

The PS5 is now available, but inventory is selling out quickly and you may be having a hard time purchasing a PS5.

Four times on Thursday at noon, 3 p.m., 6 p.m., and 9 p.m. ET, Walmart posted new PS5 inventory. These consoles were quickly snapped up by eager shoppers. As of today, the PS5 has not yet been confirmed to be restocked, but you can receive an in-stock alert.

Walmart offered both the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition, so shoppers had to choose between the PS5 console or the Digital Edition, which omits the Blu-ray drive. There was a caveat, however: because they could not be purchased in the Walmart store.

This is because Sony had already announced that the new PS5 models would only be available online on the day of release due to security concerns. Therefore, Walmart was quick to warn fans that no consoles will be available for purchase in stores.

Target also had PS5 consoles in stock, but unlike Walmart, they are only available if ordered online and picked up in-store. (Unlike Walmart, however, they are only available if ordered online and picked up in-store (like Walmart, Target's stock ran out quickly).

In other words, you have to wait for the console to arrive, but you can still get it. And you don't have to risk going out into the crowds. After all, you don't want to expose yourself to the dangers of Covid-19 and, worst of all, have to deal with people who might try to steal your console.

For those who didn't get their consoles on or around launch day, they will have to wait for Sony and Microsoft to catch up with demand.

Therefore, PS5 inventory will likely return at some point.
