Just in time for the holiday season, Walmart is offering a new benefit to Walmart Plus members: beginning Friday, December 4, Walmart will offer free shipping with a $35 minimum purchase for Walmart Plus members. This means that all Walmart Plus members will receive free shipping with no minimum purchase.

Walmart Plus is a retailer membership program. For $98 per year (or $12.95 per month), members receive unlimited free same-day shipping on groceries and thousands of other items sold at Walmart (you can sign up for a free 15-day trial).

This new benefit comes just two months after the launch of Walmart Plus. Walmart Plus joins other benefits such as unlimited free grocery delivery, fuel discounts, and access to Scan and Go in stores. Scan-and-Go allows customers to shop and pay for their purchases on their cell phones while shopping at Walmart.

"No other membership in the country offers free same-day delivery of everything from gingerbread cookies and eggnog to holiday decorations and toys as early as the same day," says Janie Whiteside, Walmart's chief customer officer. Janie Whiteside, Wal-Mart's chief customer officer.

In addition to waiving the minimum shipping charge, Walmart is also expanding the number of locations where members can take advantage of fuel savings. In total, Walmart Plus customers can take advantage of fuel savings at more than 2,000 Walmart, Murphy USA, and Murphy Express fueling stations, as well as Sam's Club member pricing at more than 500 Sam's Club stores.
