In an unprecedented turn of events for the Cyberpunk 2077 series, Sony has removed the bug-ridden title from the PlayStation Store.

The surprising move came after a wave of negative feedback from Cyberpunk 2077 players about serious bugs and shockingly poor performance on the PS4. Sony Interactive Entertainment explained that it would refund anyone who purchased the game on the PlayStation Store.

Physical copies of Cyberpunk 2077 for PS4 and PS5 can be purchased in physical stores. Developer CD Projekt Red also stated that it will continue to support Cyberpunk 2077 on Sony consoles, but that digital distribution of the game is currently suspended.

Those lucky enough to find a PS5 purchase and play Cyberpunk 2077 on Sony's new console will likely have a better experience on PS5 than on PS4 or PS4 Pro. However, the highly anticipated game is still buggy, and CD Projekt Red is urging gamers to ask for a refund if they have a bad experience.

However, Sony and Microsoft are responsible for refunds for the digital version of Cyberpunk 2077. And there have been reports of refunds being denied.

We speculate that being tasked with processing refunds for third-party games has annoyed Sony, and was perhaps another catalyst for the withdrawal of Cyberpunk 2077 from the PS Store.

Currently, attempts to view the Cyberpunk 2077 page on the PS Store result in a page declaring that the game has been removed "until further notice."

Since its launch on December 10, Cyberpunk 2077 has been plagued by game-breaking bugs and glitches on PS4 and Xbox One.

After years of waiting, fans have found the game riddled with inconsistent frame rates and bugs, including T-posing NPCs and flying cars.

Even on the more powerful PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, Cyberpunk 2077 was plagued with performance issues as well as bugs. Our own Henry T. Casey reported that he encountered numerous bugs when playing Cyberpunk 2077 on the Xbox One X.

Excited users began complaining about the game on Twitter, so much so that the term #Cyberbug2077 Not surprisingly, the term #Cyberbug2077 became a well-known nickname for the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 recently came under fire again when the game's developers admitted that they did not make the necessary QA fixes before the game's release, despite promises to both Sony and Microsoft.

CD Projekt Red later issued an official apology and promised to fix many of the game's problems in patches scheduled for January and February 2021.
