Samsung Galaxy S21 leak just revealed s pen and clever case

As part of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S21 release, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is set to support the S Pen - the first for a Galaxy S series phone New leaked renders now show us not only a neat case for the phone with a stylus and shows us how it will look.

Courtesy of WinFuture, the renders show off a departure from the S Pen design we got from Samsung phones like the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which looks like a shortened version of the Galaxy Tab S7's S Pen The stylus appears to ditch the clicker button at the top of it, but features what looks like an improved pressure-sensitive chip.

From the renderings, it is difficult to determine if there are other notable upgrades or tweaks to the S Pen design familiar from Galaxy Note phones. However, it is expected that the accelerometer will likely be supported and gesture recognition will likely be improved.

The S Pen is expected to be used in a similar fashion to that found on the Note phone; the S Pen will be used to write notes on the S21 Ultra's display, which will apparently be translated into typed text. The pen would also be used for more precise web page navigation and detailed photo editing, such as detailed cropping of images.

Unlike the Note series, however, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is not expected to come with a slot to hold the S Pen. Rather, a separate case with an S Pen holder will be offered, and the S Pen itself may be an optional extra.

New leaked renderings show off something called the LED View Cover. This is essentially a silicone organizer cover-like case that wraps around the back of the Galaxy S21 Ultra and appears to have a small section on the left side of the phone to hold the S Pen in place.

There are also cutouts on the back of the case to allow for the S21 Ultra's quad camera array (said to feature a 108MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens, and a pair of 10MP telephoto lenses that offer 3x and 10x optical zoom).

The most interesting feature of the Galaxy S21 Ultra case, however, is a cutout along its right edge, or what appears to be a transparent window, or external monochrome LED display. From one rendered image, it also appears that a magnet could be held in the strip to keep the case closed when the phone is not in use, but this is mere speculation.

When closed, this window/screen allows S21 Ultra users to see the time, date, and battery percentage on the phone. Given the vertical nature of the display, presumably notifications will also be shown, but this is not revealed in the renderings.

No word on the price of this case, but don't be surprised to hear that the LED View Cover comes with a premium price of over $50, as the Galaxy S21 Ultra starts at $1,399 for the Galaxy S20 Ultra, With spec upgrades like the Snapdragon 888 chipset as well as Note-like features, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is expected to be significantly more expensive, starting at $1,399 for the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

It will be revealed at Samsung's Unpacked event on January 14, and it won't take long to see if the rumors and leaks surrounding the Galaxy S21 Ultra come true. If it does come to fruition, we could be looking at a new entrant to the best smartphones list.
