LG Rollable phones are official — and you can buy one this year

LG is showing some pretty cool stuff at CES 2021, from its new lineup of premium Evo OLED TVs to portable air purifiers. But the most newsworthy tidbit came at the end of LG's CES 2021 digital presentation.

LG offered a sneak peek of the LG Rollable, the company's first phone that can transform from phone to tablet and back again; in LG's video, you can see the display being retracted in someone's hand, but how that happens is not clear.

According to CNET, the LG Rollable is expected to hit the market in 2021, but the exact date is not yet known. However, recent rumors suggest a March release date.

The LG Rollable could be an attractive alternative to the best folding phones. Instead of worrying about a hinge that could break or a folding screen that could break in the cold, the display will likely stretch using the same type of technology that LG pioneered for the ultra-expensive LG Rollable OLED TV R.

Regarding LG Rollable According to a December leak, the phone's display will grow to 7.4 inches with a resolution of 2428 x 1080 in tablet mode. The leak also said it would have a Snapdragon 888 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 4,200mAh battery (which is believed to be on the small side).

Unfortunately, the LG Rollable will be priced quite high at $2,359, even higher than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2's retail price of $1,999.

Despite its very brief unveiling, the LG Rollable is certainly one of the most talked about products at CES 2021 so far. Stay tuned for more details.
