Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Nintendo Switch remake is rumored

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Nintendo Switch remake is rumored

Fifteen years after Pokémon Diamond Pearl was released on the Nintendo DS, rumors are now circulating that a remake is in the works for the Nintendo DS.

The rumor comes from Centro Pokémon, a Spanish-language Pokémon rumor site. According to sources close to the Pokémon Company, remakes of "Diamond" and "Pearl" are in the works to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the "Red" and "Blue" games released on the Game Boy.

According to Centro Pokémon, translated by Nintendo Life, remakes of the 2006 titles are currently in development.

"Centro Pokémon can confirm that remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS, are in development for the Nintendo DS, according to sources close to the company.

Both versions will likely be more like the more traditional "Pokémon Sword & Shield" main series, and unlike the "Pokémon Let's Go: Let's Go" series.

It is expected to be announced during a special Nintendo Pokémon Direct celebrating #Pokémon25. This comes courtesy of Pokémon insider Kelios; February 27 is also Pokémon Day in Japan, which celebrates the release of Red and Blue.

Based on our analysis, there seems to be a good chance that a Diamond and Pearl remake will happen. Nintendo has remade many of its past Pokémon titles, with the exception of Diamond and Pearl's subsequent games. Both "Sword" and "Shield" were made on the Nintendo DS with a new engine. These games were criticized by longtime fans for being too easy and simplistic, especially when compared to the deeper, more robust RPGs on the market, but that did little to dissuade buyers. Today, Sword & Shield is the third best-selling Pokémon game of all time. And considering that this title was only released over a year ago, the game likely ranks even higher.

By all accounts, Nintendo needs a new Pokémon title every year or every other year, regardless of whether the gameplay is starting to become stale.
