PS5 Replenishment Disaster - GameStop Shoppers Furious over Botched Bundle

GameStop released a large inventory of PS5s yesterday. Fresh inventory quickly ran out as game retailers struggled to keep up with demand.

GameStop's website caved under the strain of thousands of eager gamers vying to get their hands on the limited inventory. Some customers also reported that by the time retailers sent out tweets about restocking, there were no PS5s left to purchase.

Further exacerbating the problem, GameStop has yet to set a limit limiting the number of units that customers can purchase. Since the average person only wants one PS5, not setting a limit of one per person will only benefit the duffers.

GameStop has also come under fire for bundling games and accessories with the PS5 and not giving customers the opportunity to purchase the console on its own. At this point, however, even purchasing the PS5 bundle has proven to be an extremely difficult task.

This is not the first time that a restocking of a high-demand next-generation console has gone awry, but the reaction on social media to the mishap has been less than pleasant, to say the least.

One Twitter user declared GameStop "the worst website when it comes to buying consoles" and condemned the situation as "embarrassing." Another user noted that the bundle was already gone when GameStop tweeted about it.

The retailer also dropped some Xbox Series X bundles at the same time, which were reportedly easier to get (if you could access the site itself, of course), but this is no consolation to PlayStation fans who have spent the last three months trying desperately to get their hands on a PS5 It will be no consolation to the PlayStation fans who have spent the last three months trying to get their hands on a PS5.

This definitely won't be the last time we hear of retailers screwing up restocking the console, as demand is still soaring and production woes are likely to continue.
