People are ditching their KitchenAid and opting for this chic Swedish stand mixer.

I am a KitchenAid superfan, but if there is one drawback to my KitchenAid Classic, it is that it is not suited for kneading bread. KitchenAid advises to knead less bread at a time and keep the speed at level 1 or 2.

And while KitchenAid offers more sophisticated machines, such as its Professional Series mixers with 7-quart capacities, TikTokers are switching to an entirely different stand mixer brand for all their baking needs.

The Ankerslam Assistent Original stand mixer, made in Sweden, is unlike any stand mixer you have ever seen. Its huge mixing bowl can handle 11 pounds of dough at a time.

The Anchorslam Assistent Original Stand Mixer sells for $749 on Amazon, which is not cheap, but it is about the same price as a top-of-the-line KitchenAid model. It also comes in an attractive variety of colors. For added peace of mind, this sturdy mixer comes with a seven-year warranty.

The Anchor Slam works a little differently than a typical bowl-lift or tilt-head stand mixer; 600 watts of power is supplied from the base. Instead of moving the doughbook around a fixed bowl, it uses an adjustable arm to hold the attachment in place while rotating the cooking bowl.

The bowl has more than enough capacity to bake large quantities of bread at a time, so it would be ideal for cooking up a storm at a pizza party or preparing a showpiece at a large event.

It also has a spatula attachment that attaches to the side of the bowl to prevent dough or cake mix from sticking to the sides of the mixer during use.

A simple but genius feature is the bowl lid, which you simply place on top of the mixing bowl when laying out the dough. I use a damp cloth to cover the lid when I lay the dough in the KitchenAid, but this is much more convenient and sanitary.

As the Homes Editor of Tom's Guide, I'm eager to try out this innovative mixer and see how it compares to my trusty mixer. If baking is one of your New Year's resolutions, this could be a must-have in your kitchen in 2025.
