If you're eagerly awaiting the launch of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, we can't blame you. However, a set of new phone benchmarks have surfaced and they don't look as promising as the previous S25 Ultra benchmark leaks. While the last set of benchmarks were impressive, beating out the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the new benchmarks are more complicated.
TECHINFOSOCIALS posted benchmark scores on X on December 30, showing lackluster numbers. In the single-core test, the Galaxy S25 Ultra scored 3,049 points, and in the multi-core test it scored only 9,793 points; the last benchmark for the Galaxy S25 Ultra was better, with 3,148 in single-core and 10,236 in multi-core.
Here is a comparison of this benchmark with the previous benchmark and with the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Galaxy S24 Ultra:
As you can see in the table above, despite using the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra benchmark was lower in the latest test. What is surprising, however, is the chip's clock score in this test: the Snapdragon 8 Elite has a clock speed of 4.32 GHz based on previous Geekbench tests, while this benchmark's has a primary core clock of 4.47 GHz.
It is odd that the numbers are worse than the previous one, despite the supposedly overclocked processor. This test may just be an anomaly. If re-run, the results could be better. It is also possible that suboptimal overclocking is affecting the performance of Qualcomm's chips.
Another thing to note in this benchmark is that the Galaxy S25 Ultra had 12GB of RAM, and it does not appear that Samsung will offer 16GB in all Ultra phone versions.
Even if these new lower numbers were accurate, the multi-core scores would still handily beat the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Both scores would also significantly outperform the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
It is worth remembering that it is not only benchmarks that matter for performance. Optimization is equally important. Battery life is another consideration. Cellular companies may shave performance to extend battery life from a device.
Other notable upgrade rumors for the Galaxy S25 Ultra include a more rounded design, possibly a larger 6.9-inch display, and a more powerful 50MP ultra-wide camera. There is also a possibility that Qi2 magnetic charging will be available; see our Galaxy S25 Ultra Rumor Hub for the latest news and leaks on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
