One of Sebastian Stan's two Golden Globe nominated films will be released next month in Max.

Sebastian Stan has had a busy and lively 2024. He recently received not one but two Golden Globe nominations this year, including double nominees Kate Winslet (“Lee,” “Regime”) and Selena Gomez (“Emilia Perez,” “Only Murderers in the Building”), who also received a rare and welcomed into the illustrious club. [He has also played a young Donald Trump in Ali Abbasi's critically acclaimed “The Apprentice” and an aspiring young actor with neurofibromatosis in screenwriter Aaron Simberg's “A Different Man.” The latter can officially be seen on Max next month.

The Gotham Award-winning film (which also stars Renate Reinswe, Adam Pearson, and Michael Shannon as themselves) will be available on Max on Friday, January 17, after its release on PVOD this past November. A Different Man is also the latest A24 film, The Front Room (Friday, January 3) and Look into My Eyes (Friday, January 10), joining HBO and Max's January 2025 lineup.

Current Max subscription plans include an “ad-supported” option for $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, an “ad-free” plan for $16.99 per month or $169.99 per year, and an “ultimate ad-free” tier for $20.99 per month or $209.99 per year.

According to A24, the official synopsis for “A Different Man” reads: “Aspiring actor Edward undergoes radical medical surgery that dramatically changes his appearance. But his new dream face soon turns into a nightmare, and he loses the role he was born to play and becomes obsessed with reclaiming what was lost.

The black comedy slash psychological thriller currently has a 92% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics and audiences alike praising the performances of Stan and Pearson in particular. The latter suffers from neurofibromatosis in real life, while Stan underwent extensive prosthetic body modifications to play Edward Lemuel in “A Different Man.” (The film's hair and makeup team was recently nominated for a Critics' Choice Award.)

If you missed the indie films during the big “Wicked”/“Gladiator II” fiasco at the end of the year, January is the perfect time to catch “A Different Man,” one of the best thrillers of last year. By then, Sebastian Stan may have won a Golden Globe!
