The Nvidia RTX 5080 GPU will reportedly be released in January 2025.

With CES 2025 fast approaching and a few leaks of the Nvidia RTX 50 series, we are starting to get a good idea of what to expect from Nvidia's “Blackwell” graphics cards. Now we may know which GPUs to expect first and when.

According to sources speaking to Wccftech, Nvidia plans to launch its first RTX 50 series GPUs in January 2025, with the RTX 5080 graphics card shipping first. This GPU will offer 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM, consistent with earlier leaked information suggesting that the RTX 5080 will have 16GB of video memory.

According to the report, Nvidia's first next-generation GPU will be available “shortly after” CES in 2025, when the gaming giant is expected to announce new desktop and laptop graphics cards. Retail availability is expected around mid-January, but there is no word on where gamers will be able to get their hands on them first.

Interestingly, this means that the RTX 5080 could come out before the RTX 5090 GPU. Nevertheless, according to this report, the RTX 5090 graphics card will be released shortly after the RTX 5080, with its launch only “a few weeks apart.”

If we are to believe this, the RTX 5090 graphics card may be released at the end of January or February, but the exact release date is still undetermined.

As previously leaked, the RTX 5090 is expected to have a whopping 32GB of GDDR7 VRAM. This is a considerable step up from the RTX 4090, which boasts 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM, and while the RTX 5080 will no doubt be a popular choice for many, judging by the pure difference in video memory, the RTX 5090 will be on many PC gamers' watch lists It's clear that the RTX 5090 will be on many PC gamers' watch lists.

The report notes that when Nvidia's RTX 5080 GPUs are scheduled to hit store shelves, Founders Edition and partner variants will be available.
