Google Chrome gets a major AI upgrade to protect you from scams

Earlier this month, Google announced a new technology that uses AI to block spam and dangerous messages. But now it appears that this same technology may be coming to Google Chrome.

As reported by BleepingComputer, Chrome's new “Client Side Detection Brand and Intent for Scam Detection” feature was discovered on X by Leopeva64.

In this case, however, it is not the email that is analyzed, but the web page on the device, and the feature searches for the brand and intent of the pages displayed when navigating different sites.

This new AI feature is believed to provide a fraud detection service that understands the relevant brand and intent of each page you visit online. This will make it easier to identify potentially fraudulent sites.

Google has not yet shared specific details on how this feature will work or how to turn it on, but when it is released next year, it will be available for Mac, Windows, and Linux.

The new tool is currently being tested in Chrome Canary and may be related to Google's existing Extension Protection feature, which has been using AI to provide real-time protection against dangerous sites, downloads, and extensions since November of this year.
