Timothée Chalamet's Oscar-nominated breakout film will be distributed by Netflix next week.

While he has been steadily acting in TV series like “Homeland” and blockbusters like “Interstellar” since his teenage years, it was Timothée Chalamet's sensitive and sensual performance as 17-year-old Elio Perlman in Luca Guadagnino's 2017 romance “Call Me by Your Name” that made the young actor a household name. The young actor's sensitive and sensual performance made him a household name.

Chalamet's performance as the teen who falls in love with a graduate assistant (played by Armie Hammer) staying with the Perlmans during a sun-drenched Italian summer was widely praised, earning the then 22-year-old star an Academy Award nomination and Timothy the youngest Best Actor nomination since 1939 Timothy was the youngest actor nominated for Best Actor since 1939. Writing in The Hollywood Reporter, Boyd van Hoey described Chalamet's performance as “the real breakthrough in the film,” and The Economist praised the rising star as “more raw and unhinged than most actors are capable of, and ultimately honest in his portrayal of a young man's path to self-discovery.

This week, the magazine noted.

Another great Timothée Chalamet film is coming out this week, James Mangold's “A Complete Unknown,” opening Wednesday, December 25, in which he plays folk poet icon Bob Dylan. (December 27 is Chalamet's birthday!) ) But there are only a few days left to watch “Call Me by Your Name” on Netflix. That means Netflix subscribers and “CMBYN” superfans will have to catch this swoon-worthy romantic drama somewhere in between their regularly scheduled holiday streaming plans.

But there's good news for Max subscribers. The Guadagnino-directed drama will hit the streaming platform on Wednesday, January 1, to ring in the New Year, and Max will also offer other hits starring Chalamet, including “Wonka,” “Lady Bird,” and Denis Villeneuve's “Dune” series.

In addition to Chalamet and Hammer, the cast of “Call Me by Your Name” includes Michael Stuhlbarg, Amira Casar, Estelle Garrel, and Victoire Dubois, who delivered one of the most moving parental pep talks in film history. (Author André Aciman, who wrote the novel on which the film is based in 2007, also makes a spirited cameo.) CMBYN also marked the beginning of a new collaboration between Chalamet and director Guadagnino (“Queer,” “Challengers”), with the actor and filmmaker reuniting for the 2022 romantic horror film “Bones and All.”
