Top 5 New Movies Available This Weekend on Hulu, Prime Video, Peacock and More

This is not a good week for streaming due to the holiday season, but there are still some great movies on the best streaming services. Tom's Guide features the best of the best to help you figure out what to watch.

Topping the list this week is “Gladiator II,” the long-awaited sequel to Ridley Scott's 2000 Oscar-winning epic “Gladiator,” available on paid video-on-demand services; Hulu has a new horror comedy about the darker side of motherhood, “The Nightbitch,” a new horror comedy about the dark side of motherhood, and ‘The Arctic Convoy,’ a gripping World War II thriller. Elsewhere, Jesse Eisenberg's comedy-drama “When You Finish Saving the World” is available on Prime Video, and Blumhouse's video game horror adaptation “Five Nights at Freddy's” is available on Peacock.

And now, without further ado, here are the best new films streaming this week.

“Gladiator 2” takes over the ancient Roman tale of bloodshed, political intrigue, and spectacle from Ridley Scott's epic film. Set several years after the original “Gladiator,” the sequel follows Lucius (Paul Mescall), the boy Maximus saves after the final battle, as he grows up and embarks on his own journey.

After his hometown is conquered by the tyrannical emperor who rules Rome (Joseph Quinn and Fred Hettinger), Lucius is forced to enter the Colosseum, where he survives by imitating the legendary gladiator Maximus. His fighting prowess goes unnoticed, and he soon gets the chance to fight his true target, a Roman general (Pedro Pascal) who has besieged his house.

Based on the novel of the same name by Rachel Yoder, this black horror comedy stars Amy Adams as a housewife hiding a wild secret. When she gives up her career as an artist at the behest of her husband (Scoot McNairy) to raise their son, her frustration at his lack of support and her depression over what her life has become leads her to undergo a beastly transformation.

But as much as she enjoys exploiting her animal instincts, she must ultimately face her motherhood and resentment toward her husband. Critical reception of “Night Bitch” has been poor, but there is no denying the compassion and intensity of Adams' performance.

A World War II movie may not be the most glamorous option. Inspired by a true story, “The Arctic” chronicles the trials and tribulations of a Norwegian convoy delivering vital supplies to their countrymen in the winter of 1942, just before the tide of World War II began to turn in favor of the Allies.

During the voyage, the convoy's escort is suddenly recalled, leaving the crew to navigate alone in dangerous waters surrounded by Axis forces. Despite this, the crew decides to continue their mission, and despite the harsh Arctic waters, underwater minefields, and attacks by the German Luftwaffe and Navy, they deliver much needed support to the front lines.
