Apple TV Plus has released the first trailer for the highly anticipated action thriller “The Gorge,” due out in early 2025.
Some teaser photos were released in October, and while not much was revealed, my interest was already piqued. And now the marvelous trailer has been released.
“The Gorge” promises everything an action thriller fan could want: suspense, intensity, and a thrilling mystery. The story follows two elite operatives stationed on opposite sides of a canyon who are tasked with protecting themselves from a secret threat lurking in the shadows. Sprinkled with potential romance and a touch of horror, this premise gets even better.
The good news? The wait won't be that long. As we count down the days until its release, here's what we know so far about “The Gorge” and when it will appear on streaming services.
“The Gorge” follows two elite operatives, Dorasa (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Levi (Miles Teller), who are stationed in an isolated watchtower on the other side of a massive, top secret gorge. Their mission is to protect the world from the mysterious, undisclosed dangers hidden in the canyon.
Despite the physical distance, the two bond as they remain vigilant against an invisible enemy. But when a true threat catastrophic to humanity is finally revealed, the two must join forces, pushing their physical and mental limits, to confront the danger and protect the deadly secrets of the canyon before it is too late.
“The Gorge” is an Apple Original Film to be released by Skydance Media and directed by Scott Derrickson. The film is a departure from his usual horror-focused filmography, which includes titles like “Sinister” and “Black Phone” (which, by the way, is a great film).
Of course, “The Gorge” is described as an action thriller, but its forays into horror, romance, and, above all, science fiction, make it impossible to classify easily. The film also features the legendary Sigourney Weaver in an unspecified role, which is another reason for my excitement.
Derrickson told IGN: The Gorge blends multiple genres: romance, science fiction, action, spy thriller, and horror. The idea was to invest a lot of time first in the backstory and evolving connections between the two characters played by Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, and then watch them go into survival mode amid the relentless and unpredictable danger and mystery of the gorge itself.”
“The Gorge” looks to be one of the most exciting releases to date for Apple TV Plus. Judging by the trailer, this action thriller looks to be filled with breathtakingly tense drama, emotional intensity, and suspense.
Apple TV Plus is also apparently offering an early Valentine's Day gift by exclusively streaming “The Gorge” on February 14, 2025. After watching the gripping trailer, this action thriller already ranks high on my list of anticipated films for next year and is clearly a film not to be missed.
