Samsung is almost certain to launch the Galaxy S25 Ultra next month. That includes recent indications that the entire series will run on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
According to leaked tests, Samsung's flagship smartphone may struggle against other upcoming devices like the OnePlus 13. However, the leaked tests were done with 12GB of RAM, and it appears that may not be the only option.
In a recent post to X, noted tipster Jukanlosreve listed three possible storage options: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Next to each number is another set of numbers indicating the RAM for each configuration. If accurate, the latter two appear to upgrade to 16GB of RAM over the 12GB available in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Unfortunately, the 256GB version still appears to offer only 12GB of RAM.
This is not the first time we have heard about the possibility of increased RAM, and it makes sense; a RAM upgrade would keep the Galaxy S25 Ultra on par with the Google Pixel 9 Pro and top-of-the-line OnePlus 12. It is not certain how this new RAM will be used, but it will likely be used to improve the AI experience of the device.
One of the biggest problems with more RAM is undoubtedly the cost. The full cost of the Galaxy S25 Ultra is unknown, but our best estimate is that this phone is still more expensive than previous models. It appears that Samsung is trying to improve what it can so that the price doesn't seem so high. For example, a recent leak showed off a new design without sharp corners. There is also a fair amount of talk about camera improvements that would help sell the phone.
For now, we have to wait until January to see what changes Samsung will implement in the Galaxy S25 Ultra and whether they are enough to keep it as one of the best Android phones.
