2025 could be the year of the “slim” phone. Thanks to rumors that Samsung will launch a new slim version of the Galaxy S25, it will join the iPhone 17 Slim rumored to be released in the fall. We first heard about the Galaxy S25 Slim last week, but now more information has hit the web, including the possibility of ultra-class camera hardware.

Smartprix found a product listing for an upcoming Galaxy smartphone with the model number SM-S937U in the GSMA IMEI database. This U indicates that this is a phone for the US market, but beyond that, the listing reveals nothing substantial about the phone in question.

As Smartprix also points out, the number S937 matches other product numbers suspected to match the Galaxy S25 series: the Galaxy S25 is shown as SM-S931, followed by SM-S936 Galaxy S25 Plus and SM-S938 Galaxy S 25 Ultra are expected to follow. If all of these product numbers match, the Galaxy S25 Slim could fit nicely between the Plus and Ultra models.

Interestingly, even if this phone does appear next year, it may not be released along with the rest of the Galaxy S25 series; Smartprix notes that Samsung tends to add test phones to the GSMA database six or seven months before release, or in late spring Smartprix notes that there is a If Samsung sticks to its usual release calendar, the three main S25 series would be released in late January or early February.

This is quite a gap and I am wondering why Samsung would choose to release new S25 phones at that time. But we will just have to wait and see how it turns out and hopefully get some answers in May or June.

Still, from the sound of things, Samsung will not be releasing a regular phone that just happens to be a bit slimmer. According to the source of the leak, Ice Universe, the S25 Slim could have an “Ultra” camera. They do not say exactly what that means, but they suggest that the Slim model could have similar camera hardware as the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The Ultra Galaxy phones, like the new Galaxy Z Fold SE, have had a 200MP main camera for the last few years, so it seems likely. It is less clear what other camera lenses will offer and whether they will have the same specs as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. For those not in the know, the S25 Ultra is rumored to have a 50MP ultra-wide camera lens and may have a variable telephoto lens that would eliminate the need for a second telephoto shooter.

It is worth noting that telephoto lenses require a large amount of space; depending on the design of the Galaxy S25 Slim, optical zoom may be limited even with a periscope lens. However, we hope to see a Galaxy S25 or at least something on par with the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
