Halloween may be over, but Prime Video recently added a tense zombie movie perfect for those still in the mood for a thrill ride.
The film in question is Carles Torrens' “Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End,” a new thriller set in a chaotic Spain as a viral pandemic transforms those infected into terrifying monsters.
“Apocalypse Z” originally appeared on streaming services on October 31. It may have been overshadowed by other spooky seasonal productions, but it has now moved up to #2 on the Prime Video Top 10 (at time of writing) and is already receiving praise from viewers who have streamed it.

“Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End” is an adaptation of the 2012 book of the same name by Manel Loureiro.
In this zombie thriller, a rabies-like infection known as the TSJ virus sweeps the earth, transforming infected people into aggressive zombie-like creatures.
In the midst of the chaos, he meets Manel (Francisco Ortiz), a lawyer who is grieving the loss of his wife in a car accident.
Manel initially decides to forgo the local evacuation order on the advice of his brother, opting instead to stay in his home. With only Lucullo, a grumpy cat, for solace, Manel focuses on his new life as a scavenger, dressing in a diving suit for protection and setting out in search of food, and later, shelter. It's the beginning of a desperate fight for survival in a world where infected creatures lurk just around the corner.
If you like zombie movies or are in the mood for a thriller, Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End is a solid thriller.
It certainly beats other films in its genre, with scenes of civil unrest and panicked citizens wandering alone among the ruins and shocking scenes of bloody violence dominated by creatures, and it serves as a throwback to uncomfortable COVID.
As of now, Generation Z: The Beginning of the End has not received enough reviews to earn a score on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, and has yet to be seen by any major critics or review sites.
Nevertheless, the film has received a score of 71% on Popcornmeter (from over 100 reviews), indicating that many viewers who have tried the film have enjoyed (and perhaps not liked) “Apocalypse Z.”
Some have called it “a really good, quality zombie movie” and “one of the greatest zombie movies,” while another viewer noted that it “ultimately feels like a big pile of stuff we've seen before.”
