OpenAI has made a subtle update to the ChatGPT Advanced Voice feature. You can now share snippets of conversations with others and on social media.
I experienced some great moments conversing with OpenAI's voice assistant. One of them was having the AI act out a scene from Romeo and Juliet, with the AI playing one role as a real Shakespearean actor and the other as a middle school student.
Outside of silly gimmicks, AI-generated explanations of complex topics might also be great for sharing with students and colleagues.
The new voice sharing feature is available on the desktop and mobile versions of ChatGPT.
Previously, if you wanted to share a conversation using ChatGPT Advanced Voice, you had to capture the call on another device or do a screen recording.
Both were possible and may still be the best option, as they are limited to short clips, but screen recording does not always capture the microphone input properly.
Initiate a voice chat with the AI and share clips of the conversation. When you are satisfied with what is said, click the up arrow in the upper right corner to open a new share window.
Once the share window opens, you can select the portion of the conversation up to the point you wish to share. When you are satisfied, click Share and you will be presented with the option to save it as a video or share it socially.
This relatively minor update demonstrates OpenAI's ongoing commitment to voice as a method of communication with ChatGPT.
