iOS18.2 Public Beta is live — here's the new Apple Intelligence feature for your iPhone

Apple officially released the public beta version of ios18.2.It comes with a suite of exciting new Apple Intelligence features designed to improve iphone productivity, creativity and ease of use. While some features are already up and running, others, including Apple's innovative imaging tool, come with a longer wait list process. All Apple Intelligence features require an iPhone15Pro, Pro Max, or iPhone16 series device. Here's what you need to know about the latest updates.

At the heart of iOS18.2 is a deeper integration of Apple Intelligence, including more conversational Siri, smarter app interactions, and tools that allow users to create, manage, and personalize content more efficiently.

One of the standout features is the seamless integration of chatgpt into Siri, allowing assistants to tackle more complex questions, generate content, and have a deeper understanding of context to manage tasks.1 Whether it's creating emails, brainstorming ideas, or organizing schedules, Siri's enhanced intelligence makes multitasking smoother than ever before.

The iOS18.2 public beta also introduces some state-of-the-art tools to improve the functionality of the iPhone. However, please note that some features are on the waiting list for now.

Visual Intelligence takes Apple's existing camera and photo apps to the next level. With this feature of the iPhone16 series using the camera control buttons, users can snap photos of objects, meals and places and capture images of dishes, for example, receiving detailed contextual information, visual intelligence provides calorie estimates, nutritional information and even recipes. People who don't have an IPhone16 won't have access to Apple's visual intelligence, but there's an AI vision integration with ChatGPT. It relies on an internet connection and requires data to be sent from the device, but Apple Visual intelligence runs entirely on the device and can only be accessed through the camera controls of the iPhone Camera app.

The published iOS18.2 beta is also based on the Siri-ChatGPT collaboration introduced in previous iterations of iOS18. Siri can take advantage of chatgpt's capabilities to answer questions, get advice, generate images, and more. In addition, this new feature provides integration with ChatGPT Plus, allowing paid subscribers direct access to advanced features through iOS settings, such as higher usage limits and faster response times, and users can upgrade from Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > ChatGPT.

One of the most talked about additions to iOS 18.2 is Image Playground, Apple's AI-powered creative suite for photo editing and manipulation.1 This feature allows users to apply artistic style to their photos, use text prompts to generate unique visuals from scratch, and use AI-powered extensions to refine existing images. Similar to popular tools like MidJourney, Image Playground has its own iOS app.

Genmoji is a tool that uses AI to generate highly personalized and realistic avatars, extending the popular Memoji feature. You can tweak them to express a wider range of expressions, emotions and even costumes, and make them fun to messages and texts.

To access the latest features, just go to Settings > General > Software Updates and install updates on your iPhone . From there, tap the Beta Updates option and select iOS18.2public beta. After you visit the software update page and wait for the download to appear, you must accept Apple's terms and conditions before starting the download.Beta software may have bugs, so we recommend that you back up your device before updating it.

While the beta offers a lot to explore, some long-awaited features remain unavailable to the public, including those that fall under the "Image creation" feature. The current waitlisted features include Image Wand, Image Playground, and Genmoji. To join the waiting list, install iOS18. 2 beta versions. After the update, a new Image Playground app will appear in the app library. Open the app and request it to be added to the waiting list. Similarly, the Genmoji feature of the emoji keyboard allows you to send requests for access. After applying, you will be placed on the cancellation waiting list, with a waiting time potentially extending a few weeks.

iOS18.2 marks a significant step forward in Apple's AI ambitions. By embedding advanced tools such as Image Playground, Genmoji and ChatGPT-enhanced Siri, Apple is making ai more accessible and useful for everyday use.
