There are spoilers for connection 519. Only those who want to know the answer to today's connection should read on.

Alternatively, see our NYT Connections How to Play Guide for tips on how to solve the puzzle without our help.

The New York Times' engineers union is on strike and has asked that you not play games on the NYT's game app or online. If you don't want to cross the picket line, we have created a strike version of our website with the same puzzles.

Unlike today's Wordle answer guide, solving Connections requires you to identify the category of 16 words to connect. The difficulty of each category is represented by a color, with yellow being the easiest grouping and purple the hardest. Hints are helpful, as four wrong guesses will reveal the answer.

If you need a hint to solve the groupings, here are each theme in order of difficulty:

These hints should at least help you find the answer to today's connection. If not, please continue reading for larger hints. Also, if you only want the answer, scroll down further.

There is a bigger clue: think of some iconic birds, make sure the girls are safe, and dive into the remaining Halloween candy to solve today's puzzle.

Now for the answer to today's game #519 Connection.

Drum roll please.

Demi confused me at first, but the moment I saw the push-up, I instantly knew what the connection should be, before closing out the remaining blue categories with sports and wireless.

With so much Halloween candy still left in our house, it is no wonder that the yellow categories of Crunch, Dove, Mars, and Payday came next. (I ran out last year, but I may have gone a little overboard this time.)

I'm a big Greta Gerwig fan, so when I saw that “Early” and “Lady” were two of the remaining clues, I immediately looked for other bird-related words; Big was an easy guess, and I ended up solving the purple category when I added Sue on a whim.

Green was a hole in today's memorization with Core, Meat, Subtance, and Thrust, giving me enough ideas to correctly guess the relevance.

Read this late in the day. According to the Connection Companion, the difficulty level was 3 out of 5.

I solved the purple category in no time yesterday. The saloon door and pendulum immediately screamed “swinging things,” so with that in mind, I took a guess to add golfers and, well, swinging into the mix, and it worked.

Next we swung to the opposite end of the difficulty spectrum, the yellow category, cask, cylinder, drum, and tank.

Then came green. At first, we kept trying to include cowboy, thinking it was related to cattle ranching, but once we realized that was a dead end, it became obvious that pilot, shepherd, steer, and usher were all synonyms for leading something.

That made today's blue category filled with cowboys, jets, rams, ravens and memorization.
