Paramount's long-awaited horror sequel, Smile 2, is finally here, opening Friday, October 18, 2024, and is already generating buzz among horror fans and critics alike.

Early reactions have praised the surprisingly shocking scares and Naomi Scott's mesmerizing performance. The Rotten Tomatoes score is currently at 84% from critics and 81% from audiences, and in less than two weeks it has grossed over $80 million worldwide, making it the highest grossing horror film released this season.

“Smile 2” portrays pop star Sky Riley (Scott). Skye finds herself possessed by the “smile demon” after a traumatic event in which a friend dies in front of her eyes. Skye's paranoia and descent into terror mirrors the psychological horror of the original version of Smile, and those around her deny her experience. Given the film's immediate success, one might wonder when “Smile” will be available for streaming.

Below is a projection of possible streaming start dates for “Smile 2”. Here is what we know so far.

As of this writing, a streaming date for “Smile 2” has not yet been confirmed.

If it is streamed, it will only be available for rent or purchase through premium video-on-demand services like Amazon and Apple TV. A Quiet Place Day One became available digitally 32 days after its theatrical release. Transformers One also took 32 days to land on digital streaming, so based on this information, Smile 2 should be available for rent or purchase on November 19, 2024.

However, there are some clues as to when it will appear on streaming services. Paramount, the studio that produced “Smile 2,” typically releases new films on its streaming service, Paramount Plus, after a theatrical run of about 45-60 days (depending on the film's success). For example, “A Quiet Place: Day One” arrived on Paramount Plus 60 days after its release. Transformers One is projected to be available for streaming in late November (also 60 days).”

Thus, we can predict that “Smile 2” may land at Paramount Plus around December 17, 2024, but that depends on its continued success at the box office. It may appear on streaming services much sooner.
