“Silo” is one of the best shows available on Apple TV Plus, along with “Severance” and “For All Mankind.” For those who don't know, the show follows the plight of the last 10,000 people left on Earth, holed up in the mysterious, labyrinthine underground complex that gave the series its name. No one knows when or why the silos were built, and anyone who dares to ask questions risks banishment to the toxic and uninhabitable outside world, a veritable death sentence. In Season 1, Silo's new sheriff, Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson), unraveled some of the mysteries, but the next episode will shed light on the mysteries of the outer world and how the last bastion of humanity, the Hellmouth, was created in the first place.

If you're in the mood for a war drama, Steve McQueen's “Blitz” is a heart-wrenching portrait of the crisis Londoners survived during the German blitzkrieg during World War II. Saoirse Ronan stars as Rita Hanway, a London factory worker who, like many parents at the time, is shaken by the decision to send her 9-year-old son George (Elliot Heffernan) to the safety of the English countryside. Bitter about the upheaval and determined to return to his mother and grandfather (Paul Weller), George rushes back to East London at the first opportunity. Along the way, he stumbles from one nightmare to the next as his distraught mother seeks him out and finds a new sense of community back home.
