Apple Confirms Early 2025 Release of Apple Intelligence Features in EU

Apple has confirmed when Apple Intelligence features will be available for E.U. devices and when language support will be enhanced.

Apple recently released iOS 18.1, which includes many of the Apple Intelligence features promised in the 2024 WWDC presentation. However, E.U. users were left out, as the features had not yet appeared. Apple reported on its European website that the features will be available, but users will have to wait a bit.

According to Apple via 9to5 Mac, Apple confirmed that Apple Intelligence will be released in April 2025. This release will include writing tools, Genmoji, and a redesigned Siri with ChatGPT integration. Unfortunately, this postponement is due to Apple's concerns about the antitrust Digital Marketing Act, but one can forget any fears that these features will not be released.

Apple also announced that two software updates will bring Apple Intelligence to support more languages: the first will be released in December and will include support for Australian, Canadian, Irish, New Zealand, South African, and British It will support local versions of English.

The second, to be released in April, will support more languages, including Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

However, it is not all bad news for the E.U. population, as European users have access to certain features not available in the U.S. The aforementioned DMA allows users to remove or change certain apps on their iPhones that cannot be removed in other countries. This list will be extended in the upcoming iOS 18.2 and will include the Safari browser, Messages, Camera, and Photos apps.

If you live in the UK, you can still use the recently released Apple Intelligence feature, but you will need to select your region from Settings and set it to the US. This will change certain things, such as the clock and the way the date is displayed, but otherwise works as intended.
