Despite initial hopes for version 24H2 of Windows 11, it has been nothing but problems for Microsoft. The latest problem has users with Intel motherboards crashing and struggling to get back to normal.
This information comes from a Spanish-language posting from El Chapuzas Informatico: There appears to be a problem with the Intel Z890 motherboard. There is an obvious conflict between dedicated and integrated GPUs.
Unfortunately, this issue is not related to a specific motherboard model; MSI and Gigabyte motherboards are reportedly affected, as are other brands in the Z890 line.
If this issue occurs, users will need to go into the motherboard BIOS and disable integrated graphics before performing the necessary BIOS update. On the other hand, users have reported that the crash does not cause any long-term damage to the motherboard, so disabling integrated graphics should return everything to normal.
In any case, Microsoft needs to patch this problem as soon as possible. The problem is becoming widespread, with some users dealing with blue screen of death (BSOD) issues with popular Western Digital SSDs.
While bypassing the update sounds easy, many users have had updates automatically pushed to their PCs upon system reboot or power-off.
Again, it is important to note that other widespread problems do not permanently ruin hardware.
