Three New Modes Added to Google Chrome - Major Changes in Performance

Google has improved its memory saver feature with three new modes aimed at helping control performance.

Google Chrome remains one of the best web browsers, but it consumes a lot of memory. However, Google has introduced a feature to give users better control over their performance when surfing the web. In a recent post to its blog, Google revealed three new modes aimed at improving performance: “Standard,” “Balanced,” and “Advanced,” as well as a performance detection tool.

The Performance Detection Tool allows Chrome to proactively identify performance issues and offer solutions. For example, you can disable certain tabs to speed up the tabs you are currently using; when Chrome detects a problem, a pop-up will appear with a “Fix Now” option. If you prefer to handle this feature manually, you can turn it off in the settings.

Meanwhile, a new mode in Memory Saver is designed to help this feature speed up your browser. Moderate mode deactivates tabs based on your system's needs. Balanced mode measures both your browsing habits and the needs of your system. Finally, the maximum mode quickly deactivates tabs when you stop using them.

Balanced mode seems to be the best option if you switch tabs a lot and don't want to wait for tabs to reload. These settings can be selected on the Performance tab of Chrome's Settings menu.

Google Chrome has other major performance upgrades planned, including an upgraded version of Gemini. As part of this upgrade, a new autonomous AI called Project Jarvis will be built into Chrome. This will include consumer tasks such as shopping and travel booking, and will likely be released in December along with Gemini 2.

There is no doubt that Chrome uses a lot of memory, and these new improvements will help better control this issue. To get the most out of your online experience, we recommend investing in one of the best VPNs as well.
