Or see our NYT Connections How to Play Guide for tips on how to solve the puzzle without our help.
While today's wordle solution guide recommends the best wordle starting words as a strategy, Connections' solution depends on identifying the categories that are connected from the 16 words. The difficulty of each category is represented by a color, with yellow being the easiest grouping and purple the most difficult. Hints are helpful as the answer is displayed after four wrong guesses.
If you need a hint to solve the groupings, here are each theme in order of difficulty:
These hints should at least give you an idea of how to find the answer to today's connection. If not, please continue reading for larger hints. Also, if you just want the answer, scroll down further.
Here's a bigger hint: Go hunting, play with your eyelids, bring out the car geek in you, and give love a cute nickname.
Now, what's the answer to today's game #508, Connections?
Drum roll please.
I was hoping for more of a Halloween theme today, but it ended up being more trick than treat in that realm.
It took a little while for the puzzle to fit together, but I started with a (Ford) Mustang and a (Dodge) Viper, then remembered the (Alfa Romeo) Spyder; I wasn't sure about the fourth, so I guessed a (Lamborghini) Diablo and it worked out.
I had seen the flutter, wink, and blink, but the fourth didn't click until I finally saw the bat.
Similarly, the yellow group had Darling, Love, and Treasure. It was saved with pumpkins. For the car group, one Halloween-y word at the end is a good strategy if you are lost in today's puzzle.
Remaining are Scavenger, Egg, Job, and Witch.
Happy Halloween to all who participated!
Are you reading this late in the day? According to Connections Companion, the difficulty level was 3.1 out of 5.
Gaffer, Best Boy, Dolly, and Boom went on strike in an attempt to start a boom, so they fell into the trap of crew roles on the movie set.
Rollerblades, skateboards, wagons, and dollys were snatched up and quickly moved to the green group.
Yellow could easily snag boom, rise, spike, and surge from there.
Here it finally became clear that blue was all about tapes with duct tape, electrical tape, gaffer tape, gummed tape, and packing tape. If you are a fan of Adam Savage, he strongly recommends gaffer tape over duct tape every day.
From there, it became a rote filling of retail chains with a few tweaks: Best Bo(u)y, Id(k)ea, Kron(g)er, Stab(p)les. Cute.
