Ever wanted to listen to the Wii Coconut Mall song from Mario Kart on repeat? Now you can. Nintendo has announced a brand new smartphone app.
As the announcement trailer states, Nintendo Music is a free app, accessible to Nintendo Switch Online members (a paid subscription service for Switch console users). The app is currently available in 45 countries and is supported on Apple devices running iOS 16 or higher and Android devices running Android OS 9 or higher.
The app curates playlists around specific characters, moments, or moods, but fans can create their own playlists based on their favorite Nintendo franchises. The app also supports offline access, allowing users to download songs at any time.
While the Nintendo Switch 2 has yet to be officially announced, the app will hopefully persevere until then, as it features playlists from games such as Super Mario Bros, Animal Crossing, Metroid, and Pokemon. Additionally, music from video game consoles like the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo Switch are also featured.
Interestingly, and much to our amusement, the Nintendo Music app has a spoiler feature that allows you to filter out songs that might spoil games you have yet to complete. Here is the full list of games currently included in the app:
The app has just been released, so we expect more games and soundtracks will eventually be added. For now, however, I plan on listening to DK Island Swing for the next 10 hours.
