OnePlus has revealed the final design of the OnePlus 13 and the first launch date for the phone later this month.
We had heard quite a few rumors about OnePlus' next generation phone, which is expected to be announced by the end of October. This was confirmed on official OnePlus social media, with a video on Weibo (via Android Police) showing the new device's rear design and also announcing a launch date of October 31.
The OnePlus 13 retains the same overall rear design as the OnePlus 12, including the same circular camera island. However, the island now stands alone and there is no plate running along the sides. There is also a new metal bar that runs horizontally along the back and lines up with the cross shape in the camera block. The OnePlus 13 also appears to have a new flat frame reminiscent of the iPhone 16.
The post also reveals new color options for the OnePlus 13: obsidian, blue, and white. According to the post (via machine translation), the colors are inspired by three images: forest, sea, and snow. We can also see the three camera sensors, which are rumored to feature an upgraded telephoto lens at 50MP.
As noted above, this post confirms the OnePlus 13 launch date as October 31. Unfortunately, the launch at the end of the month is only for China, and no announcement has yet been made regarding a global launch. However, based on OnePlus' previous launch patterns, a global launch is likely to take place in the next few months, or early 2025 at the latest.
OnePlus has not yet revealed everything. We expect the OnePlus 13 to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset and to employ localized refresh rate control on the display that will allow different parts of the display to operate at different refresh rates. However, confirmation of these features is likely to take place only on the 31st, assuming the leak is accurate.
We can only hope that a global launch comes as soon as possible, as the OnePlus 13, when it does, is likely to be one of the best Android phones available. However, with Samsung's Galaxy S25 series also expected to launch in the near future, OnePlus may have a tough fight on its hands again.
