The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max appear to have issues that even affect replacement devices.
New smartphone releases are rarely without problems, and Apple's iPhone 16 series is no different: MacRumors recently reported that a number of customers on Apple's support forums and Reddit have reported new problems with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have a number of customers reporting new problems with the devices. According to the posts, the devices suddenly become very slow or completely unresponsive and then reboot.
The problem seems to occur randomly, and some report that the device reboots even in standby mode. Normally, this type of issue should be resolved with an update, but neither iOS 18.0.1 nor iOS 18.1 seem to have resolved this issue. On the other hand, there are reports of this problem being seen on alternative devices. Fortunately, the iPhone 16 does not seem to be affected, so it appears that only the Pro model is affected.
For most users, this problem is sporadic. However, some have reported crashing 10 to 20 times per day; others have reported that a fresh install, rather than a reinstall from an iCloud backup, resolves the issue. Therefore, this could be an iCloud glitch rather than a device issue, which would explain why the same problem occurs on a replacement phone.
This is not the only glitch related to Apple's latest models. Recently, a number of iPhone 16s have reported battery problems and rapid charge loss. There was also an issue with the iPhone 16 Pro where the touchscreen would freeze under certain conditions, but the iOS 18.0.1 update has reportedly resolved this issue.
New phone releases always come with bugs, and this one is a pretty big one for Apple. Hopefully a solution will be found soon, and we will report back as soon as we know more details. In the meantime, if you experience this issue with your iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max, please let us know.
