Google Keep is getting a major upgrade to its handwriting capabilities.

Google Keep has undergone some major changes in recent months, and more are on the way.

While GoogleKeep is undoubtedly one of the best notes apps on Android phones, some say it is pretty bare bones. However, a recent report from Android Authority reveals that this could change thanks to Android 15 and some internal upgrades. First, one of the biggest improvements is that Android 15 now officially supports a lock screen notes app.

As well as the lock screen, the APK to the current Keep version reveals several different options when starting a new Memo, these include the usual text box, check box options, image-based memos, and even a stylus so everyone with a stylus will benefit Included is an improved handwriting mode that will benefit Previously, there was no distinction between handwritten notes and drawings, but that seems to be changing, as well as the ability to export handwritten notes as PDFs and add a mix of images and text blocks.

Speaking of images, Google is finally giving you more control over the images you import into your notes. Currently, imported images appear at the top of the note with no option to change them; Google Keep will allow users to add images to different places in the text, resize them, and easily crop them. There are also new customization options that are more basic than the current options, but still enough to make your notes stand out. All of the discovered features can be seen in this video by Android Authority.

This is not the only reported addition to Google Keep, as a recent report from 9to5 Google revealed that the app will add new features that utilize Google Gemini. According to this report, Gemini will now help you create lists with ease. For example, you can ask Google Keep to create a protein-rich shopping list for you. Note that Keep does not specify whether the list was created with the assistance of AI or not.

Google Keep is a great notes app, but it was lagging in a fairly saturated market. If this change finally takes effect, it could be the coup needed to compete with the best Android phones.
