Amazon seems to be on a never-ending quest to make Amazon Prime a more valuable proposition. Already offering one of the best streaming services available, Prime Video, Prime members now get a 10-cent discount on every gallon of gasoline they purchase when they sign up.
The shopping giant has partnered with BP, Amoco, and AMPM/Arco to offer the gasoline discount. In total, more than 7,000 gas stations participate. According to Amazon, the discounts can save customers about $70 per year.
If you are paying full price for an Amazon Prime membership, $70 is just about half of the $139 per year.
Unfortunately, this benefit is not automatically added to your Prime account. You'll need to visit a few websites and sign up for a new Earnify account, but if you drive a lot and are already paying for Amazon Prime, it's worth taking a little time to sign up.
Here's what you need to do to sign up and start saving money on fuel:
It seems like too many steps, but it's a fairly quick process. Once you have the app all set up, it will show you the closest gas stations (in my case, there is one about 8 miles away); if you frequent BP, Amoco, or AMPM/Arco gas stations, you can find other deals within the Earnify app.
Also, since Prime is free, it is hard to complain about small savings. For more discounts, check out our Amazon discount code page for savings of up to 75%.
