In 2024, Netflix has 20 No. 1 shows so far.

With just a few months left in 2024, 20 Netflix shows have taken the No. 1 spot over the past 43 weeks, according to Netflix's global charts.

That means that of the many films that landed on Netflix, one of the best streaming services on the market throughout the year, these 20 have captured the most viewer attention.

Of course, as longtime Netflix subscribers know, just because something is popular on Netflix doesn't mean it's worthy of inclusion on a watch list. Here are five of Netflix's No. 1 TV shows (from a variety of genres).

Netflix doesn't always have a good track record when it comes to live-action, and I have to admit I was skeptical when they announced plans to make one of Nickelodeon's most beloved cartoons live-action. [But after streaming (and loving) “One Piece” in 2023, I decided to give the live-action “Avatar” team a try. [A young Avatar, Aang (Gordon Cormier), sets out on a journey to master the art of bending the four elements in order to bring balance to a world threatened by the Fire Nation.

Led by Cormier's spirited performance, this excellent series keeps the same “Avatar” story alive, but brings it to life in impressive new dimensions. Thankfully, the team has already received permission to continue the journey of Aang and his friends in the film.

You've surely heard of “Baby Reindeer”; it must be one of the most talked about TV shows of 2024.

The seven-part series is by Scottish actor and comedian Richard Gadd and is based on the Edinburgh Fringe award-winning show of the same name, which is based on a true story.

The series revolves around the strange relationship between Donnie Dunn, an unsuccessful comedian played by Gadd, and Martha (Jessica Gunning), an initially friendly woman who begins obsessively following Donnie after they first meet at the pub where he works in London.

Netflix has produced two major romance shows this year: first, the swoon-worthy series “One Day,” starring Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall, and Erin Foster's buzzy “Near Perfect.” romantic comedy “Nobody Wants This.”

To be clear, both are top-notch Netflix originals, and I could have chosen either, but I decided to focus on one romantic series because of its variety. Of the two, “Nobody Wants This” is more likely to be rewatched, so I included it here.

“Nobody Wants This” is a 10-episode romantic comedy series that revolves around the unlikely relationship between Joanne (Kristen Bell), a sex-positive, agnostic podcaster, and Noah (Adam Brody), a newly single rabbi. The series is sweet, funny, and very charming. Sweet, funny, and very charming, the two stars give breathtaking performances.

The superhero series remains one of the most prominent projects, but “Supacell” is no run-of-the-mill origin story.

Created, written, and developed by British rapper and filmmaker Rapman (“Blue Story”), “Supacell” features five seemingly ordinary black South Londoners: Michael (Tosin Cole), Andre (Eric Kofi- Abrefa), Rodney (Calvin Demba), Sabrina (Nadine Mills), and Taser (Josh Tedeku).

The five soon find their lives turned upside down when each of them suddenly develops a superpower. But when Michael catches a glimpse of the future, he sets off on a journey to find his fellow fledgling heroes to put together a team that can avert a dark future and save the life of the woman he loves.

If you like Guy Ritchie's fast-talking, punchy action comedies (like me), you owe it to yourself to check out “Gentlemen.”

Confusingly, it's a spin-off of Ritchie's 2019 crime caper, also called “Gentlemen,” in which former Army Captain Edward “Eddie” Horniman (Theo James) unexpectedly becomes the Duke of Halsted upon the death of his father. title and the associated inheritance.

Eddie soon learns that the family home is part of Susie Glass's (Kaya Scodelario) vast weed-growing empire. To protect his family, he begins to work with Glass, negotiating a new criminal underworld and its diverse cast of characters.
