“Don't Move,” from directors Adam Schindler and Brian Netto and producer Sam Raimi, is shaping up to be one of the most intense thrillers of the year. Unfolding in real time, the film follows a grieving mother named Iris (Kelsey Asbill) as she hikes through a remote forest, where she crosses paths with a sadistic killer. The stranger (Finn Whitlock) seems friendly at first, but when he injects Iris with a paralyzing drug, his insidious true intentions are revealed. In the precious few minutes before her body shuts down completely, she tries to escape her assailant, but when all you can capture on film is your eyes, it's easier said than done. In this chilling nightmare scenario, Iris can hide, but escape is out of the question.

Netflix is on a roll with original movies, and a true crime thriller that is stranger than fiction is no exception. The film marks the directorial debut of Anna Kendrick, who stars as Cheryl Bradshaw, the actress from Pitch Perfect. Unbeknownst to her, one of the single men was a notorious serial killer known as the “Dating Game Killer.” This is the same M.O. used by the real Rodney Alcala (played by Daniel Zovatto in the film) to find his next victim. Exciting and suspenseful, “Woman of the Hour” is one of those movies that stays with you long after the credits roll.
