Apple's warranty plan can now be extended for an additional period of time when AppleCare coverage ends
As reported by our sister site iMore, Apple has quietly updated AppleCare+ to allow for a 15-day extension of the AppleCare+ warranty period; Apple's support page for AppleCare extensions states that the previous 30-day extension period is now 45 days
Previously, the extension was for 30 days, but now it is for 45 days
While the previous one-month option seemed long, 45 days is a welcome change, as 30 days goes by much faster than expected
The AppleCare+ plan covers most Apple devices, including the best iPhones, Apple Watches, Macs, and iPads This coverage is intended to serve as an extended warranty for Apple devices while reducing claims for repairs due to accidental damage; before the proliferation of AppleCare's extended warranty, upgrades were necessary to avoid expensive repair bills
Many plan options are currently available, including 24-month plans, 36-month plans, monthly plans, and annual plans
The 45-day extension will be implemented in several countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand However, some countries, such as China, will remain at 30 days
If you have AppleCare+ enabled, you can extend it through “Settings” on your Apple product There, you can check how much time is left on your plan and whether it has expired From there, you can extend coverage
For those who feel comfortable extending their warranty and coverage, AppleCare+ is a great option; for more information on AppleCare, see our guide to all things AppleCare
