Samsung Surprisingly Changes Name of Rumored Slim Version of Galaxy Z Fold 6?

Several rumors have circulated about a possible new version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but recent leaks have raised the possibility of a surprising new name

According to a number of rumors, Samsung plans to release a slimmer version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 for the Asian market However, there was no consensus on a name for the device, with suggestions that it could be called the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, or the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE However, recent leaks have suggested the possibility of a new name

In a recent post to X, Evan Blass, a known source, claimed that the device could actually be called the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition and could be abbreviated as the Galaxy Z Fold SE For example, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Ultra have special editions, but the only real differences are color options, not hardware changes

In the case of the Galaxy Z Fold SE, there are rumored to be some differences from the base model Supposedly, the new phone will have a 65-inch cover screen and an 8-inch internal display If true, it would be slightly larger than the Z Fold 6, which has a 63-inch cover screen and a 76-inch internal display Also, the Special Edition will reportedly not support the S Pen

The biggest issue we see with the upcoming phone, however, is with regard to its actual thinness Korean website The Elec reports that the Z Fold SE measures about 115 mm when folded, which means that it is only about 002 inches different from the current Galaxy Z Fold 6 In other words, compared to the current Galaxy Z Fold 6, it is only about 002” different Some have argued that labeling this phone as a “Special Edition” is a way to avoid mentioning that the phone isn't actually any thinner [Android Authority reports that the Galaxy Z Fold SE will go on sale in South Korea on September 25 and is rumored to be available in China as well However, there is no indication at this time of a launch outside of the Asian market
