A recent APK teardown has revealed more information about what to expect from the upcoming Google Photos feature Spotlight
Android Authority conducted a teardown and dug into the code line of version 697 of Google Photos for Android devices and discovered that the previously discovered Spotlight feature has been renamed to Presets Presets provide users with four options for videos that essentially act as one-tap editing tools
Available options include “Basic Cut,” which trims to key moments in the video and emphasizes colors; “Slow-Mo,” which applies a slow-motion effect to selected areas; “Zoom,” which automatically zooms in and out of video in selected areas; “Track,” which automatically tracks people in the video and Track” to automatically track and zoom in on a person in the video
According to Android Authority, it is not possible to export a video containing four preset edits at once, although it is possible to adjust the duration of the edit thanks to Slide Instead, users can only include the basic edit and one preset in their video However, this may change once this feature is released
Presets can be found by selecting the video you want to edit, tapping the Edit option, and selecting Presets between Video and Crop However, accessing the video presets requires a 3MB installation first, which the phone prompts the user when the option is first selected
This is not the only recent news regarding new updates to Google Photos Google recently announced that it will make it easier to block images of people you don't want to see This update changes the way Google Memories blocks certain people from appearing in your feed, allowing you to limit the amount you see of a person rather than removing them entirely
All these changes coming to Google Photos, along with how easy it will soon be to clear space in Google Photos, will help Android phones some of the best camera phone options on the market It should be noted, however, that the APK teardown only reveals what is in the code There is no guarantee that a certain feature will be released, or when it will be released
