Looking for the best miniseries to watch this weekend That's not unreasonable Miniseries and limited series, sometimes consisting of as few as six episodes, are a great way to kill a weekend
The only problem The best streaming services today have a lot of great miniseries: Netflix, Max, Hulu, Peacock, etc all have highly rated miniseries, limited series, and anthology series shows
For the sake of simplicity, we've created a list of the seven best miniseries to watch this weekend It is hard to exclude highly rated shows like “Band of Brothers” and “Roots” But with options like “Chernobyl” and “Beef,” there is no doubt that every show on this list is worth watching
Here are the seven best miniseries from Netflix, Max, and others with 95% or better on Rotten Tomatoes that will be available this weekend
“Chernobyl” is a five-part miniseries dramatizing the events of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident This program is not for the faint of heart Chernobyl was the largest nuclear accident in history, and creator Craig Mazin does not shy away from the devastation and heartbreak Episode 4, “The Happiness of All Mankind,” is particularly brutal
“Chernobyl” is mostly historically accurate, but the cast, mostly British, does not try to be Russian or Ukrainian Personally, I would not change this cast Jared Harris as Valery Regasov and Stellan Skarsgård as Boris Shcherbina are excellent, and to miss them would only diminish the value of this wonderful show

Miniseries often dramatize real events, as in “Chernobyl,” or adapt other works into the TV show format Lonesome Dove was the latter, earning 18 Emmy nominations and winning seven
This 1989 miniseries was based on Larry McMurtry's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name Former Texas Ranger Captain Augustus “Gus” McRae (Robert Duvall), former Texas Ranger Captain Woodrow F Cole (Tommy Lee Jones), and former Texas Ranger scout Joshua Dietz (Danny Glover) travel from Lonesome Dove, Texas Montana, as they track a herd of cattle to Montana If you like shows like “Yellowstone,” this miniseries is a must-see

Not to be confused with Alan Moore's iconic DC Comics graphic novel, which was adapted into a 2009 film, this HBO series is actually a sequel to Moore's comic Watchmen takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 34 years after the events of the comic/movie”
The main hero this time is Angela Aber (Regina King), who masks as Sister Knight and secretly becomes a member of the Tulsa Police Department Initially, her mission centers on stopping a white supremacist group called Seventh Coverly, which uses Rorschach's writings to justify starting a race war, but it soon expands beyond this local plot Vigilante billionaire Adrian Veit (Jeremy Irons) returns from the original graphic novel as Ozymandias, as does the godlike Dr Manhattan and former Silk Specter Rory Blake (Jean Smart) This HBO miniseries more than adequately follows Alan Moore's original story and far exceeds the quality of the film adaptation

“Fargo” is not strictly a miniseries Currently in its fifth season, it is an anthology series, and each season is distinctly different from the others, despite the thematic and motif connections However, I decided it was worth picking up because each season tells a complete story from beginning to end, much like a mini-series If you watch the entire first season, you will be pleased with what I have seen
In season one of Fargo, Martin Freeman plays Lester Nygaard, a mild-mannered Minnesota insurance salesman His life takes a turn when he meets hitman Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) at the hospital and Lester murders Nygaard's bully (Kevin O'Grady) without clearly telling Malvo The murder brings in Fargo Mafia hit men Mr Wrench (Russell Harvard) and Mr Numbers (Adam Goldberg), forcing police officers Molly Solverson (Allison Tolman) and Gus Grimly (Colin Hanks) to investigate
Fans of the original film will love “Fargo” Season 1 and its great cast

“Beef” is another anthology series like “Fargo” Initially a miniseries, including Golden Globe and Emmy awards, “Beef” has since gone on to produce a second season However, since its plot is detached from season one, we count it as a miniseries for all intents and purposes
“Beef” stars Steven Yeung and Ali Wong as Danny Chow and Amy Lau Based on real events in the life of the show's creator, Lee Sung Jin, the show is fun, dark, stressful, and addictive At 10 episodes, it's a bit long, but once you start watching, you'll be hooked for the entire season

In “East Town Lovers,” Kate Winslet plays Mea Sheehan, a local detective who is assigned to investigate the murder of a teenage mother However, this is not the first murder of a young girl she has investigated; the last case she investigated was also unsolved That cold case still haunts her, and Mea's boss (John Douglas Thompson) presses her to bring in County Detective Colin Zabel (Evan Peters), who recently solved a cold case nearby
The acting and chemistry between Winslet and Peters is superb, and both won Primetime Emmy Awards for their performances in this HBO miniseries Winslet's flawless Delaware County accent, in particular, is a truly incredible performance, and I recommend it to any fan of the BBC's “Broadchurch” series Even those who aren't will immediately relate to “The Horse of Eastown”

In “Landscapers,” Olivia Colman and David Soris play Susan and Christopher Edwards, who in 1998 were accused of killing Susan's parents William and Patricia Witchery They were accused of killing Susan's parents William and Patricia Witchery, but after evading the Nottinghamshire police for 15 years, one slip-up brought them back to the police's attention
Honestly, I probably didn't need to explain more about this true crime drama from HBO and Sky other than to say that it stars Colman and Swillis, both of whom are phenomenal actors and I will watch anything with either of them in it But thankfully, this four-episode series is also excellent and full of twists and turns There is murder, intrigue, and a rumored unlikely friendship with French actor Gerard Depardieu In addition, director Will Sharp has put together some great scenes that would look right at home on the big screen
