Hisense appears to be trying a new approach with its OLED TV, which is scheduled for release in Europe this September
Known as the Hisense A85N, the new display will support HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and is said to have a peak brightness of 1,000 nits it uses LG Display's WOLED panel, which should give it a considerable Sony and Samsung, its main competitors
OLED technology is not new to Hisense, and the display manufacturer makes several OLED TVs Reservations for European customers will open on September 2, just days before the official launch at IFA 2024 in Berlin
Despite offering the best TV for under $1,000, Hisense's A85N OLED TVs will be priced starting at €1,600 (about $1,770)
At Hisense's pre-IFA briefing, a very extraordinary display was unveiled The Hisense A85N OLED TV is a great addition to the 2024 TV lineup, and although it will only be available in Europe, it is loaded with amazing features that could make it one of the best OLED TVs available if it ever makes it to the US [The Hisense A85N is only available in 55- and 65-inch configurations and supports all the latest HDR formats, including IMAX Enhanced, HDR10+, Dolby Vision (and Dolby Atmos), and HLG The display also has several gaming features, including ALLM, VRR, and two HDMI 21 ports
The A85N uses LG Display's WOLED panel, which is found in a variety of OLED TVs such as the LG C4 OLED While Hisense claims that the A85N can achieve a peak brightness of 1000 nits, LG's C4 can provide significantly better brightness
It is unclear when or if the Hisense A85N will be launched in the US market, but it would not be too surprising; the OLED market is becoming increasingly competitive, and it would be interesting to see Hisense take a gamble in this area
