We are now approaching a crossroads where we are entering the age of AI, where more users will use AI than those who do not
This has led to an “arms race” of sorts, with various companies trying to attract more users
OpenAI has had the upper hand in this area thanks to its early lead, such as recently revealing that ChatGPT has 200 million weekly active users, but Meta seems to be closing in on it The Information [Paywall] report states that CEO Mark Zuckerberg hopes MetaAI will be the “most used AI assistant” by the end of the year
According to the report, Meta has pushed its AI assistant to 3 billion users since its debut, reaching 400 million monthly users earlier this month
This also means 40 million daily users, a relatively small number among these 3 billion, but still a huge number in the broader AI space
Some at the company suggest that the assistant is being pushed too hard on users, with customers who try it but do not become repeat customers
Much of the lack of retention was tied to the prominence of the feature in the search bar, where users attempt to perform one task and are instead directed to MetaAI Meta has corrected this problem, with 10% of users actively using MetaAI features It stated
“The playbook here is to get stuff out there, get feedback from early adopters, improve its quality, and then promote it,” Connor Hayes, Meta's VP of GenAI, told The Information We're going to be sending things out to the world, getting feedback from early adopters, improving the quality of it, and driving it forward,” Connor Hayes, Meta's vice president of GenAI, told The Information
