The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold cannot draw power from Google's own general wireless chargers due to the placement of the charging coils

Qi wireless charging has been part of the Pixel series since the release of the Google Pixel 3 Google then released the Pixel Stand series last year, including the Pixel Stand 2, which enabled wireless charging speeds of up to 23W for the Pixel 6 through Pixel 9, but these phones can only draw 15W of power However, the Fold series seems to be having problems with wireless charging

The original Google Pixel Fold struggled to draw 75W of power from wireless charging, which was a problem, but the upcoming Pixel 9 Pro Fold is even worse; according to Google's support page, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a charging coil arrangement Thanks to this, it is not even compatible with the second-generation Pixel Stand

The problem is that the charging coil placement is slightly off-center compared to other Pixel devices This means that when the phone is placed on the stand, the coils are not aligned This can be a problem if you want to use other wireless chargers, but Google recommends moving the phone until it is in sync It is unclear why the coils are off-center, but it is sure to be an annoyance for those who have purchased the latest generation of Pixel stands

Wireless charging may not be perfect, but the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a lot to be excited about During our recent hands-on, we praised the size and brightness of the screen We also liked the new AI features like Pixel Studio and Add Me However, the battery was disappointing and the camera wasn't as good as the Pixel 9 Pro

The placement of the coils is odd and doesn't seem to be there for a reason, but since they are on all phones, it's probably not a design flaw It could also mean that Google plans to eventually release a new compatible Pixel stand
