The release date for macOS Sequoia appears to be much sooner than you think

I'm sure you've all figured it out by now Apple talks about new versions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS at its September event, but it is usually the desktop OS that announces the latest versions of all three But that may not be the case, as Sequoia may be closer than you think!

According to internal Apple documents obtained by MacRumors, macOS 150 Sequoia will be available much sooner, specifically within a week

The earliest we have seen a macOS version released in the fall so far is September 20, dating back to 2016's macOS Sierra In fact, the only other OS X release earlier than this was in 2012 when Mountain Lion was released on July 25

All that remains is a new M4 Mac to run the best of the OS with AI built in Rumor has it those will be announced at an event in October

macOS Sequoia has two sides to it regarding the features we can expect On the one hand, there are feature updates that are limited in number but bring great convenience

During my time with the beta, I have grown fond of Window Tiling (the greatest feature of Windows 11 finally coming to macOS) and iPhone Mirroring! Other improvements include Safari improvements, a new Passwords app, and a new upgrade to iMessage in iOS 18

But the real star of the show is Apple Intelligence, which brings Siri richer recognition and greater adjustments to make it more personal, contextual, and actually useful

On top of that, new writing tools allow you to summarize and rewrite notes (perfect for when you need to remove the passive-aggressive sting from company emails), Genmoji for custom emojis and additional moments of creativity generative options like Image Playground (both of which will appear in later versions)

In short, in one sense it is a mundane convenience update, but in another it is the beginning of something bigger
