Meta Ray-Ban Glasses Could Be a Major Competitor to Apple - What You Need to Know

Apple's “Glowtime” event is going to be a big one, with the iPhone 16, Apple Watch Series 10, and the long-awaited AirPods Max 2 also on the horizon But looking beyond that, Cupertino has something entirely new in mind

According to Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter, Apple may be planning to launch its own glasses to compete with Meta Ray-Ban glasses, which do not have augmented reality visuals The company has noticed that, in Gurman's own words, “this category is doing quite well for Meta,” and “Apple may be trying to join the party”

So, with that in mind, let's put on our tin foil hats and try to predict what these glasses could do The camera glasses with speaker and microphone combine social photography/videography capabilities and AI smarts into an impressive wearable device

We can see how these could come together for Apple as well: Apple Intelligence could bring personal context to these glasses along with visual AI iPhones can identify what is on the screen based on location and machine learning The iPhone is able to identify what is being displayed on the screen based on location and machine learning More of these could be big

Second, we can confidently say that Apple's continuity will play a role here At the moment, the options offered by Meta Ray-Bans are as seamless as possible, but transferring images and photos requires manually tapping buttons The Cupertino staff will likely make this process automatic with AirDrop

On top of that, it will probably be possible to send and receive messages, make and receive phone calls, and, if Apple is bold enough to include TouchID, log into the device

And for AirDrop to work, Apple would need to put an ultra-wideband chip in this thing I have to admit, I have lost my Meta Ray-Ban many times all over my apartment

But what features do you think Apple's competitors will have, maybe AirGlasses, or whatever it's called? Share your thoughts in the comments And don't forget to follow the Apple Event Live Blog for the latest news from today's event
