Friend Requests return to Xbox after more than a decade

Hi, Friends, I don't want to be on Xbox or later, Xbox360, but it features the transition to social media

This week, a friend request will be returned to xbox Series X and Series S consoles and PC-based gamers (h/t IGN) The feature was first published to Xbox Insiders and will be available to anyone who participated in the Windows PC Gaming preview and on portable gaming devices such as the Asus ROG Ally X

Based on the comments we've seen from others on X and Reddit, people are pretty confused about this, and most people think that it's no longer functional or that the current system

Basically, now, when you add someone to your "friends" list, your files will be deleted until they add you to your friends list Become a follower Unfortunately, for some reason, Xbox doesn't send notifications when this happens I'm guessing this is to stop people with a lot of followers from being flooded with notifications and abuse However, this means that you don't always know if the other person is a friend on the system or not

When the friend request disappeared, the dedicated tab in the Xbox social feed was removed and the friend request was displayed Simply put, Xbox has put that tab back under the People tab in the UI

For those who paid attention, there have been calls for some Xbox to get back features, but those requests have been ignored until now

In the Xbox Post, the company says that existing friends and followers will be automatically updated with changes If someone is not currently on your friends list, you can send them a request via the People tab

According to Xbox, new privacy and notification settings have been implemented to manage friend requests Go to Settings > Accounts > Privacy & Online Safety > Xbox Privacy and View and Customize Details > Select Friends, Followers, and Clubs to customize your settings You can also update your Xbox console's notification settings from Settings > Preferences > Notifications"
