iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max battery replacements increased in price

The battery is one of the few things that will need to be replaced if you use your iPhone for an extended period of time Since batteries wear out over time, replacing them can help keep the iPhone running a little longer Unfortunately, with the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, this process is about to become more expensive

Getting a battery replacement through Apple used to be fixed at $99 While that price has stuck for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, owners of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be asked to pay an additional $20 for a total of $119 AppleCare Plus repairs are still free

It is not clear why Apple raised the cost of battery replacements this year However, it may have something to do with the phone's redesigned battery, as it only affects the Pro model

As such, these new batteries are either more expensive to replace or take more time and effort to replace There were rumors that Apple would actually make iPhone battery replacement easier this year, in accordance with EU legislation regarding user-replaceable batteries However, this could be limited to the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus

This means that the batteries in the new iPhone 16 Pro series may still be glued in place and require a solvent to safely remove them This, combined with the larger (and possibly more expensive) design, could easily explain the $20 added to the replacement cost

Of course, we won't have insight into this until the first iPhone 16 Pro teardowns begin to appear online, giving us insight into how things have changed iPhone 16 series will be released this Friday (September 20) and fingers crossed, we won't have to wait long to find out for sure

But whatever the reason, or indeed whatever the logic behind the price increase, just be aware that the cost of an out-of-warranty battery replacement for the iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max will be a bit higher
