We've heard rumors that Apple may be unveiling an upgraded M4 Mac mini However, it appears that Apple accidentally leaked a new machine a little earlier, and this machine may have five USB-C ports
As spotted by Aaron Rogers of MacRumors, the machine appears to have been revealed by a code change in Apple software (possibly macOS Sequoia) This snippet reveals that the Mac mini runs on Apple Silicon (possibly M4) and has five USB-C ports
The previously introduced Mac Mini M2 had four USB-C ports and two USB-A ports; it also has HDMI, a headphone jack, and Gigabit Ethernet five USB-C ports seems like an improvement, but rumor has it that Apple will be removing the USB -A port to be removed This means that there will be one less port, and existing USB-A accessories will no longer be able to be used without some sort of adapter
It is unclear what will happen with the additional port In the past Apple may have tried to wrap them around USB-C, as it did with the MacBook Pro, but that turned out to be very unpopular Therefore, basic ports such as HDMI and card readers were reintroduced to the MacBook Pro several years ago
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman also believes that the Mac mini will undergo its first major redesign since 2010 this year Apparently, this new model will be as small as the Apple TV and may feature the M4 and M4 Pro chip options In other words, the Mac mini skips the M3 series altogether
More details will no doubt be revealed at the final Apple event of the year next month, when the Mac mini is expected to be joined by the M4 MacBook, a new iMac, and M4 Pro and M4 Max chips
